VINNIE ROBERTS

|
Another
blast from the past is the host of the highly popular All-Night
Show on WICC, none other than Vin Roberts. He was kind enough
to contribute the items posted on this page, showing not
only his contributions to WICC and the community, but also
the great lengths that the station took to cover election
night results...many years before the introduction of computers!
Thanks for sharing with us, Vin! |

Vinnie at the controls of WICC
out at the Exide Battery Building in Fairfield. His top-rated
request show, airing from 7PM to midnight, generated HEAVY
phone traffic.
His TALENT SHOWCASE also brought live, local bands
to appear and perform on the show. |

 |
| The
year was 1964. It's election night. 75 News men, WICC staff
members and stringers combined efforts to give Service Six
listeners thorough Connecticut coverage of the November
3rd election returns. These photos were taken at Service
Six News Election Headquarters, in the Ball Room of the
Stratfield Hotel Inn in Bridgeport. Vin Roberts and Ed Zelle
work together at the far end table, indicated by Vin's hand-written
arrows and the web-master added white pointers. |
| . |
|

Vin also gave back to the community
by volunteering as a Junior Achievement production advisor.
He is seen here working with the high school company officers,
offering guidance and assistance as they work to make their
miniature company a success. Above, Vin is 2nd from the
right. |
