Artists & Groups

BIG AL hosted dozens
of Rock & Roll shows back in the 70's, and had the honor
and pleasure of meeting several headlining groups and artists.
He is shown here with legendary Doo-Wop performers Lenny
Coco & The Chimes, who recorded the classic
"Once In A While." |
 |
One of the most
familiar groups of the era, with an unmistakable style was The
Coasters, who performed songs that more closely
resembled mini-comedy acts. Al poses with this great group,
who's hits include "Yakety Yak" "Charlie Brown"
"Along Came Jones" "Little Egypt" among
many others. |
 |
The
Tokens saw a huge resurgence in their popularity
in the 90's, after their classic 1961 hit "The Lion Sleeps
Tonight" was remade for the Disney animated feature film
"The Lion King." Earlier in their career they
recorded "Tonight I Fell In Love" and had as one of
their earliest members, the legendary Neil Sedaka. |
 |
Another bill-topping
act of the 60's, The Marvellettes,
who's chart topping smash "Please Mr. Postman" went
right to the top in 1961. Some of their other hits included
"Beechwood 4-5789" "Don't Mess With Bill"
and "Playboy." |
