2011 WICC Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth
OFFICIAL RULES

 
1. REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Contestants must be registered in order to be eligible to win any prizes, and a $42 registration fee must be paid by each contestant in order to register. Registration begins July 12, 2011 and may be by mail, in person, via telephone at 203-366-BLUE or online at www.WICC600.com. Submit the attached form along with your check or money order for $42 to The Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth, 2 Lafayette Square, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than August 12, 2011 and received no later than Thursday August 25, 2011. Registration in person must be at officially designated registration stations. Deadline for registration in person with a registration station is 7:00pm Friday August 26, 2011. Registration via telephone must be done by calling 203-366-BLUE and will require the submission of a credit card and must be done by 5:00pm Monday August 22, 2011. Registration online ends 5:00pm August 26, 2011. By registering, you agree to these Official Rules and the decisions WICC 600 AM Radio (“WICC” or “Sponsor”), which are final and binding in all respects. No responsibility is assumed by Sponsor for lost, late, misdirected, illegible, mutilated, or postage-due entries or for any human, telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. Registration & Weigh In Stations are subject to change. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned to contestant. REGISTRATION FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
2. POLYGRAPH TESTING: By signing this application, all contestants agree to be polygraph tested in order to claim any prize won. To remain eligible for their respective prizes, first, second, or third prize winners are required to take and pass a polygraph test within one month following the tournament weekend (by September 30, 2011 or, in the event of rescheduling due to a natural disaster, by October, 14, 2011). All polygraph tests must be administered by a person approved by the WICC Tournament Director. WICC also reserves the right to require any other winner to take and pass a polygraph test to remain eligible for prizes. Refusal to be polygraph tested within the time specified above will result in automatic disqualification. Anyone contesting a winner’s entry may request a polygraph test at the protestor’s expense. In the event of a winner failing a polygraph test, the winner has 30 days to retake and pass the polygraph test at the winner’s expense to claim their prize.
3. Eligibility: Employees of Cumulus Media Inc., its licensees, The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, and all of their parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies, WICC 600 AM, weigh-in station judges, employees and their respective advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate family (spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, or son, regardless of where they live) or members of the same households (whether related or not) of such employees are not eligible.
4. Fishing either day or partial day constitutes participation in the tournament.
5. The tournament will be held rain or shine. In the case of a natural disaster or an act of God, refer to rule #6 below.
6. If the tournament is totally cancelled before the start of a tournament by natural disaster or an act of God, the tournament will be rescheduled for the alternate weekend of September 10 & 11, 2011. This is the final date. No refunds will be provided. Announcements for canceling and rescheduling the tournament will be made on WICC600 AM Radio before 4:00 pm Friday August 26, 2011. You may also contact WICC AM 600 at (203) 366-2583 for information regarding cancellation or rescheduling of the tournament. In the case that the tournament is rescheduled, all deadlines in rules 1, 8(c) and (e), and 9(f) will be extended exactly two weeks.
7. All people in a boat who are fishing for bluefish for prize consideration during the tournament must be registered.
8. CONTEST DESCRIPTION: (a) For the purpose of this tournament, Long Island Sound’s westernmost border will not be past the Whitestone Bridge. The easternmost border will not be past the Colregs Demarcation Line (a line running from Orient Point, New York across Plum Island, across Great, Little, and Gull Island, to Race Point on Fisher’s Island and from East Point on Fisher’s Island to Watch Hill Point, Rhode Island which includes Fisher’s Island Sound). (b) Bluefish (Pomatomus Saltatrix) must be caught by hook and line from a boat on Long Island Sound or from the shore of Long Island Sound, in each case subject to the borders described above. (c) Bluefish must be caught and presented for weigh-in between 12:01 am Saturday August 27, 2011, and 5:00 pm Sunday August 28, 2011. (d) NOTE! Bluefish frozen, partially frozen, or without their eyes intact and clearly visible when presented for weigh-in will be disqualified. In the interest of bluefish conservation, any bluefish under 28 inches in length will be automatically disqualified. For the purpose of this contest, Sponsor encourages a “catch and release” policy for all bluefish less than 28 inches in length. Only FRESH bluefish that are 28 inches or longer in length, with eyes intact and clearly visible, will be considered. (e) No prize will be awarded for bluefish brought in after 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2011 at any official weigh-in station. (f) After being weighed, all fish in possible contention must be gutted. The decision of the weigh-in station or a Sponsor employee shall be final. (g) Bluefish in possible contention and presented for judging, and only those become the property of the Sponsor.
9. JUDGING: (a) Bluefish must be presented to a WICC-Port Jeff Ferry Bluefish Tournament representative at any of the official weigh-in stations. A list of their locations is printed on the official application form. (b) In the interest of allowing for the most winners, only the heaviest of the fish presented by each contestant will be judged to be a contending fish. NO CONTESTANT MAY WIN MORE THAN ONE MONEY PRIZE. (c) Bluefish presented for weigh-in may be subjected to a Torry Meter test. (d) In the event of a poundage tie, the winner will be selected as the earliest to weigh in his/her fish. (e) The decision of the weigh-in station or a WICC employee shall be final. (g) Any challenges to the official winners list must be presented in person no later than 4:00 pm on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at WICC 600 AM Radio, 2 Lafayette Square, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Anonymous challenges will be disregarded.
10. PRIZES: Approximate retail value of all prizes is $47,400. (a) First Place: $25,000 in cash will be awarded to the contestant with the heaviest bluefish by weight. Second Place: $10,000 in cash to the contestant with the second heaviest bluefish by weight. Third Place: $3,000 in cash to the contestant with the third heaviest fish by weight. Fourth Place: $1,000 in cash to the contestant with the fourth heaviest fish. Fifth Place: $1,000 in cash to the contestant with the fifth heaviest fish. (b) The contestants with the next 15 heaviest bluefish will each win $200 in cash. (c) After the winners in paragraphs (a) and (b) are determined, a $200 prize will also be awarded to the contestant with the heaviest bluefish at each official weigh station. (d) NO CONTESTANT MAY WIN MORE THAN ONE PRIZE. (e) No assignment, transfer, or substitution of prize is permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize is unavailable. Taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
11. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual if it finds, in its sole discretion, to be in violation of these rules, and such contestants will forfeit his or her registration fee and/or prize.
12. Each winner must execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release, which must include the winner’s social security number for tax reporting purposes, within 7 days of notification of winning. In the event the winner is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian (over the age of 18) of the winner must sign the affidavit and releases. A selected winner may be disqualified and, in such case, an alternate winner may be selected from among the remaining eligible contestants if a selected winner (i) cannot be reached because the prize notification or prize is returned as non-deliverable or (ii) fails to return documents timely. All unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. By accepting this prize, where permitted by law, each winner agrees to grant to Sponsor and its licensees, affiliates, and assigns the right to print, publish, broadcast, and used at any time or times, the winner’s name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, and biographical information as news or information and for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration. Further, by accepting the prize, each winner agrees, and by entering this contest, participants agree, to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its licensees, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries advertising and promotion agencies, directors, officers, employees, representatives, and agents for any and all liability for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind to a person, including death and property, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize, participation in any contest-related activity, or participation in this contest. Void where prohibited.
13. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: IN NO EVENT WILL SPONSORS, ITS LICENSEES, AND/OR THEIR PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, AND RELATED COMPANIES, THEIR ADVERTISING OR PROMOTION AGENCIES OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AGENTS BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF CONTESTANT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, ANY PRIZE WON IS PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABLITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT. Some Jurisdictions may not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages or exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. 14. WINNERS LIST: The winners’ names shall be available at WICC after Thursday September 8, 2011. Contestants may request the names of the winners by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: WICC 600 Radio, 2 Lafayette Square, Bridgeport, CT 06604 when the results become official.
